5 Great Color Combinations for Your Home
A common problem faced by homeowners when decorating a room is figuring out what colors to use for the dcor. if you visit any paint store, you can see that there are literally hundreds of different colors and shades to choose from when designing a color scheme. For some, so much choice can get quite overwhelming. Not everyone has an eye for color, and it can be quite difficult to pick out which colors will look good together in a room. If youre looking for color combinations to use in your dcor, here are five suggestions to consider.
1. Brown, Blue, and Cream
You can use this color scheme in any room of your home. Just keep in mind, when using these colors, that you want the colors to stay balanced, especially when youre applying the dark brown. So, for instance, if you have a dark brown couch, you may want to lighten it up with cream or light blue pillows. Or if your couch is cream colored, you can add some interest with brown and blue pillows. To add even more visual interest, look for patterns that contain all three colors.
2. Shades of Brown and Cream
Use shades of brown and cream to create a peaceful retreat in your bedroom or bathroom. You can choose from anything from dark chocolate brown to an off white or light cream color, as there are a wide variety of shades across this spectrum. The monochromatic nature of this color combination can be made much more interesting by pairing a lighter shade with a darker shade, making the room appear livelier.
3. Blue and Orange
Blue and orange lie across from each other on the color wheel, which means they are considered complementary colors. When using this color combination, you dont want to use bright oranges and blues but rather keep the colors muted. You can easily work these colors into a contemporary-styled room by including white or even brown in the mix.
4. Black and White
You can use this classic color combination for practically any room you like. The great thing about black and white is that it can be used in a variety of ways. Depending on the pieces you use, it can be modern as well as traditional. You can add even more style to this color scheme with an accent color such as red or green. Theres no shortage of black-and-white dcor items available these days, making this one of the easiest color schemes to work with.
5. Pink and Green
For your bedroom, living room, or sun room, try another complementary color scheme: pink and green. When decorating with pink and green, be sure to add a neutral color such as white or cream, or you may end up having way too much color in the room. Be sure to keep the colors the same shade. For instance, youre not going to want to pair neon pink with mint green.
These five color combinations are a great place to start if youre having trouble coming up with color ideas for your home. Any of these combinations should give you some inspiration when decorating your home. When you use any of these suggestions as a base and then add your own style to them, you can create a unique look for your home.
