Dinner Party Table Dressing
Throwing a dinner party is a great idea if you want to catch up with your friends or get to know some new people. If you are new to hosting a dinner party however, it can be hard to know where to start. Lets examine the most important points in getting your dinner table set up correctly
Glasses. In an ideal world, you should have a minimum of 3 different glasses for each person. Wine glasses are must, but it doesn’t need to be crystal glass. A secondary straight glass is often provided for other drinks and water can be drunk from a tumbler.
Decanters. As an alternative to serving each drink in the bottle it came in, decanters are a very practical option. These not only look better than branded bottles but also do not clutter up the table like empties do and can be filled very easily
Napkins and cloths. There should be a table cloth covering the table, even if it just runs along the centre of the table. Each place setting will need a napkin and its a good idea to have a few spares ready if people need more than one throughout the evening
Cutlery. Your cutlery will be determined by the food that you will be consuming, though you should have at least two knives, two forks and a pudding spoon. The cutlery should be arranged so that people use them by starting from the outside and working inwards for each course
Dressing. In order to make your table setting stand out from the crowd, you can place great additionally item on it as long as you're sensible. Candle holders look great in moderation, as do glass vases filled with fresh flowers. Some tables are of an adequate size to accommodate a large centre piece
