Custom Mousepad Copyright Infringement?
I went to Zazzle.com to order a custom Mousepad, but I wanted an Image of Final Fantasy Dissidia Duodecim on it. Which apparently goes against copyright. Is there anything I can add to it that will allow it to be created without violated the terms of service? Like putting in the Square Enix trademark symbol?
No. No matter what you add to or modify about the design, the underlying image is copyrighted material.
According to copyright law, in order to use or adapt a copyrighted work (adapting a work creates a Derivative Work, which is still the exclusive right of the copyright owner), you'll need written permission from the owner. There's nothing you can add to it to get around that (unless your use is Fair Use, which it really doesn't sound like it is).
