Kindle DX - The Latest Generation Of Amazon Kindle Reader
Continuing his older brother Kindle 2, Amazon has unveiled the latest generation of Kindle Series: Kindle DX. As of January 2010, Kindle DX has already been made available in 100 countries worldwide. Let’s get through the detail about this new gadget.
Kindle DX Basic Feature
Kindle DX is as thin as most magazine with just a third of inch in profile. In advance of its predecessors however, Kindle DX now supports an auto-rotating 9.7″ diagonal wide screen, which is by far, the most obvious and best improvement of this latest Kindle. If you’re one of those who often to search over maps, images, tables, and charts, the new auto-rotate screen could be just the thing for you as it allows the user to have a full view of these pages at better angles. Just rotate the device to automatically switch from portrait to landscape mode, and vice versa.
With the Amazon Whispernet technology via Sprint’s 3G network, Kindle DX users can have easy access and downloading of content wirelessly in over 100 countries around the world, such as Australia, Hong Kong, Germany, Japan, Norway, Spain, South Africa, the United Kingdom (UK), and many others in less than 60 seconds (depends on signal strength and file size). Via its 4G storage capability, this newest Kindle can now store up to 3,500 books so you always have your whole library with you!
Now, Kindle DX reader is equipped with Text-to-Speech feature. It can read books, blogs, magazines, and newspapers out loud to you, unless the book's rights holder made the feature unavailable. You can speed up or slow down the reading speeds or choose a male or female voice. Switch back and forth between reading and listening and your spot is automatically saved. Pages automatically turn while the content is being read, so you can listen hands-free.
You'll never need to bookmark your last place in the book, because Kindle DX remembers for you and always opens to the last page you read. Using the 5-way controller, you can highlight and clip key passages and bookmark pages for future use. Equipped with the QWERTY keyboard, you can add annotations to text, just like you might write in the margins of a book. And because it is digital, you can update and export your notes.
The native PDF support of the Amazon Kindle DX wireless reading device is another welcome improvement from the past Kindles. Native PDF support allows you to carry and read all of your personal and professional documents on the go. With combination of Amazon’s Whispernet service, beat the hassle of sending your PDF files to or from Kindle DX and read them anytime, anywhere.
Last but not least. What about the price? Pretty pricey, even with all the pleasant changes. The price of the Kindle DX is definitely way above the earlier versions. The newest serie of Kindle now costs an eye-popping $489.
